Crochet Chick Amigurumi

Here is a cute pattern for a crochet baby chick. 

 

How cute is this little chick! Baby chicks are so adorable and everybody loves them!  This Easter crochet pattern works out really quick if you want to make a last minute gift!

 

 

General information:

SIZE:

3.5” / 10 cm tall when made with the indicated yarn.

 

MATERIALS:

• 2 different yarns calling for 5,5 mm (US I-9) hook
• Size D­3 (3.5 mm) crochet hook
• 2 black safety eyes (6 mm/0.2 inches)
• Poly-Fil Fiberfill stuffing
• Stitch markers
• Tapestry needle

• increase (inc)
• invisible decrease (dec)
• back loop only (blo)

 

What did I use?

Light worsted yarn in yellow and orange
I used « I love this cotton ! » from Hobby Lobby in Buttercup (color 12) and Glowing (color 102)

 

Pattern:

Head and Body :

With yellow yarn

Round 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
Round 2: inc 6 times (12)
Round 3: [sc in next st, inc in next st] x6 (18)
Round 4: sc in all st (18)

Round 5: [sc in next 2 st, inc in next st] x6 (24)
Round 6: sc in all st (24)
Round 7: sc in all st (24)
Round 8: sc in all st (24)
Round 9: sc in all st (24)

Place safety eyes between Round 6 and 7 (space between eyes are 3 stitches in the model)

Round 10: [sc in next 2 st, dec in next st] x6 (18)
Round 11: sc in all st (18)
Round 12: [sc in next 1 st, dec in next st] x6 (12)
Round 13: sc in all st (12)

Stuff the head with polyfill

Round 14: [sc in next st, inc in next st] x6 (18)
Round 15: [sc in next 2 st, inc in next st] x6 (24)
Rounds 16 to 22: sc in all st (24)
Round 23 : [sc in next 2 st, inc in next st] x6 (18)

For the next round (Round 24), crochet in back loop only

Round 24 : [sc in next 1 st, dec in next st] x6 (12)
Round 25 : [dec in next st] x6 (6)

Stuff with polyfill and close the body.



 

 

Beak :

With orange yarn

Round 1 : start 4 sc in a magic ring (4)
Round 2 : [sc in next st, inc in next st] x2 (6)

Attach the beak to the head (centre of the beak is in round 9 in the model)

Wings (make 2) :

 

With yellow yarn

Round 1 : start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
Round 2 : [sc in next 2 st, inc in next st] x2 (8)
Round 3 : sc in all st (8)
Round 4 : sc in all st (8)
Round 5 : sc in all st (8)
Round 6 : [sc in next 2 st, dec in next st] x2 (6)

Attach the wings to both sides of the body (top of the wings between rounds 14 and 15 in the model)



 

Tail :

With yellow yarn

 

Round 1 : start 4 sc in a magic ring (4)
Round 2 : [sc in next st, inc in next st] x2 (6)
Round 3 : sc in next 2, inc in next 2, sc in next 2 (8)
Round 4 : [sc in next 3, inc in next st] x2 (10)

Attach the tail to the body (top of the tail is on round 19 and bottom of the tail is on round 21 in the model)

 

 

Foot (Make 2) :

With orange yarn

 

 

Round 1 : start 4 sc in a magic ring (4 sc)
Round 2 : [sc in next st, inc in next st] x2 (6)
Round 3 : sc in all st (6)
Round 4 : sc in all st (6)

Close and sew to the body
