The Back to School Series continues, and this week’s pattern is perfect for little artists! Meet the Paint Palette Amigurumi — a fun, colorful, and beginner-friendly crochet project.
Just like the pencil, glue bottle, notebook, and ruler, this design follows the same squishy, easy-to-make style with minimal sewing. The palette features simple embroidered “paint dabs” for a creative touch, and it works up quickly with just a small amount of yarn.
This pattern is ideal as a teacher appreciation gift, classroom decoration, or even a playful craft fair item. Plus, kids will love having their very own crochet paint palette to add to their school supply set!
Stay tuned — more crochet school supplies are on the way to complete the Back to School Collection.

The colors:
With a 2.75 mm crochet and the color of your choice:
- Round 1: Start 6 sc in a magic ring. (6)
- Round 2: 1 sl st in the next st.
Cut the yarn, leave a long tail for sewing, and keep it for later use.
Repeat this step with 5 additional colors, making 6 circles in total.
Using your tapestry needle, sew the colored circles evenly spaced around the paint palette. Refer to the pictures below for guidance.
Place the front of the paint palette over the back, aligning the edges. Work 1 sc all around, inserting your hook through both layers to join them together. Add a little stuffing inside before closing completely. Once you reach the starting point, finish with 1 sl st into the first sc. Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the tail onto your tapestry needle, then insert the needle through the inside of the paint palette and bring it out through the palette’s hole. Use the tail to sew the front and back of the palette together around the hole. Fasten off and weave in the end securely.
Congratulations, your paint palette is ready!
