Snowman Doll – Free Crochet Pattern

Please read the whole pattern properly before starting.
The pattern is written using US terms.
This pattern is made of the following parts:
- 1 Body
- 1 scarf
- 1 hat
Size:
- 3.5 inches (9 cm) with light worsted yarn (I used I love this cotton from Hobby Lobby) with the hat on.
Material:
- Yarn calling for a US I-9 / 5.5 mm hook in light blue, dark blue, orange and white
- Size US C-2 / 2.75 mm crochet hook.
- Size US D-3 / 3.25 mm crochet hook.
- 2 black safety eyes (5 mm)
- thread cotton yarn in black for the mouth
- Stitch markers (if needed)
- Tapestry needle/ Small needle
- Polyfill
- 2 small buttons
- Fabric glue
- A fork (to make the pompom)
Abbreviations:
- chain (ch)
- magic ring (mr)
- single crochet (sc)
- increase (inc)
- invisible decrease (dec)
- slip stitch (sl st)

Pattern: How to crochet a Snowman Doll?
Let’s start – Snowman doll – Free Crochet Pattern
The head and body – Snowman doll – Free Crochet Pattern
- The head and body are worked in continuous rounds (as a spiral). Use a stitch marker if needed.
- We start at the top of the head.
- Remember to stuff as you crochet.
With a 2.75 mm crochet and yarn in white.
- Round 1: Start 6 sc in a magic ring. (6)
- Round 2: [6 inc]. (12)
- Round 3: [1 inc in the next st, 1 sc]x6. (18)
- Rounds 4-7: 1 sc in all st. (18)
- Round 8: [1 dec in the next st, 1 sc]x6. (12)
Place the safety eyes between Rounds 5 and 6, spaced by 2 stitches.
- Round 9: [2 sc, 1 dec in the next st]x3. (9)
Fill the head.
- Round 10: [9 inc]. (18)
- Rounds 11-19: 1 sc in all st. (18)
- Round 20: Working in the back loops only: [9 dec]. (9)
Fill the body.
Close the body: Using a tapestry needle, weave the yarn tail through the front loops of all 9 stitches and pull gently to close the opening. Secure the yarn and weave in the end.
With a 2.75 mm crochet and yarn in light blue.
Join the light blue yarn in any front loop stitches of Round 19 (I joined in the back to make it less visible).
- Round 21: Working in the front loops only: 1 sc in all st. (18).
Finish by a slst in the first sc of the round. Cut and secure the yarn.
The nose – Snowman Doll – Free Crochet Pattern
- The nose is worked in rows.
With a 2.75 mm crochet and yarn in orange.

- Row 1: ch 3. (3)
- Row 2: starting in the 2nd ch from the hook: 2 sl st. (2)
Cut the yarn but leave a long tail for sewing. Sew the nose on the snowman face.
With your tapestry needle and the black thread yarn, make a mouth below the nose.
Sew or glue 2 small buttons on the snowman body.
The scarf – Snowman Doll – Free Crochet Pattern
- The scarf is worked in rows.
- We will use a bigger crochet hook to make the scarf.
With a 3.25 mm crochet and yarn in dark blue.

- Row 1: ch 26. (26)
- Row 2: starting in the 2nd ch from the hook: 1 sc in the next 20 ch, miss the next 2 ch, ch 2, 1 sc in the next 3 ch. (25)
Cut the yarn and fasten off. Place around the neck of your snowman.
The Hat – Snowman doll – Free Crochet Pattern
- The hat is worked in continuous rounds (as a spiral). Use a stitch marker if needed.
- We will use a bigger crochet hook to make the hat
With a 3.25 mm crochet hook and yarn in dark blue.

- Round 1: Start 6 sc in a magic ring. (6)
- Round 2 : [1 sc, 1 inc] x3. (9)
- Round 3 : [2 sc, 1 inc] x3. (12)
- Round 4 : [1 sc, 1 inc] x6. (18)
- Rounds 5-6: 1 sc in all st. (18)
Change for the light blue yarn:
- Round 7 : [1 hdc in all st]. (18)
When you finish the last round, cut the yarn and pull it through the last stitch to secure. Weave in the yarn tail with a tapestry needle and hide it inside the hat.
To make a small pompom, wrap the yarn around the prongs of a fork about 25 times. Knot the yarn on the side of the fork. Cut the yarn, then slide a piece of yarn between the middle prongs and tie it tightly around the wrapped yarn. Remove it from the fork, knot again to secure, and cut through all the loops. Trim the ends to shape your pompom (I made mine as small as possible), then glue or sew it on top of the hat.
