Crochet Adult Bunny

Start Here:

Please read the whole pattern properly before starting.

The pattern is written using US terms.

This pattern is made of the following parts:

  • 1 Body (leg/body/head in one piece)
  • 2 ears
  • 2 arms
  • 1 tail

Size:

  • 3.5 inches (9 cm) with worsted yarn without ears
  • 6.5 inches (16 cm) with plush yarn without ears

Material:

  • Yarn calling for a US I-9 / 5.5 mm hook in brown, and a small amount of pink for the nose OR Yarn calling for a US L-11 / 8 mm hook in brown and a small amount of pink for the nose.
  • Size US C-2 / 2.75 mm crochet hook (a larger hook can be used, your animal will only be slightly bigger) if you use worsted yarn OR Size US 7 / 4.5 mm if you use plush yarn.
  • 2 black safety eyes 7.5 mm if you use worsted yarn OR 2 black safety eyes (12 mm) if you use plush yarn
  • Cotton thread in black for the nose if you use worsted yarn OR yarn calling for a US I-9 / 5.5 mm hook in black if you use plush yarn
  • Stitch markers (if needed)
  • Tapestry needle

Pattern: How to crochet a bunny?


The legs – Crochet Pattern Bunny.
  • The legs are worked in continuous rounds (as a spiral). Use a stitch marker if needed.
  • Remember to stuff the legs as you crochet.

– Leg 1:

With a 2.75 mm crochet and brown yarn OR with a 4.5 mm and yarn in brown.

    • Round 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring. (6) If you are working with plush yarn: ch 2; make 6 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook. (6)
    • Round 2: [1 inc, 2 sc] x2. (8)
    • Rounds 3-6: [1 sc in all st]. (8)

Cut the yarn and fasten off. Keep Leg 1 for later.

– Leg 2:

With a 2.75 mm crochet and brown yarn OR with a 4.5 mm and yarn in brown.

    • Round 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring. (6)
    • Round 2: [1 inc, 2 sc] x2. (8)
    • Rounds 3-6: [1 sc in all st]. (8)

Do not cut the yarn. In the next round, we will join both legs and keep working on the body and the head.


The body and head – Crochet Bunny.

  • The body and head are worked in continuous rounds (as a spiral). Use a stitch marker if needed.
  • Remember to stuff your work as you crochet.

Keep working with a 2.75 mm crochet and brown yarn OR with a 4.5 mm and yarn in brown.

In the next round, we will join both legs:

  • Round 7: After completing the last round of Leg 2, ch 2, then continue working on Leg 1: 8 sc. Next, work 1 sc in each of the 2 chains (across the ch-2 bridge), then work into Leg 2 again: 8 sc. (20)

Fill the legs.

  • Rounds 8-15: [1 sc in all st]. (20)
  • Round 16: [8 sc, 1 dec] x2. (18)

Fill the body.

  • Round 17: [1 sc, 1 dec] x6. (12)

  • Round 25: [2 sc, 1 dec] x6. (18)

Place the eyes between rounds 22 and 23, spaced by 3 stitches.

  • Round 26: [1 sc, 1 dec] x6. (12)

Fill the head.

  • Round 27: Close the head with your tapestry needle.

With 2 strands of pink yarn and your tapestry needle, make a nose over 2 stitches between Round 21 and 22.

Cut the yarn but leave a long tail for sewing.

Sew the arms on each side of the body between round 15 and 16, spaced by about 7 stitches.


The ears (make 2 or 4 – see details below) – Crochet Pattern Bunny.

If you’d like the ears to be firmer and stand up rather than floppy, make 4 pieces total—2 for each ear. You’ll then attach the two panels together for each ear. Refer to the photos below for comparison: I used just one panel per ear for the bunny made with worsted weight yarn, and two panels per ear for the bunny made with plush yarn.

With a 2.75 mm crochet and brown yarn OR with a 4.5 mm and yarn in brown.

  • Row 1: ch 11. (11)
  • Row 2: starting in the 2nd ch from the hook; 1 sl st, 1 sc, 1 HDC, 4 DC, 1 HDC, 1 sc, 1 sl st. (10)

Cut the yarn (leave a long tail for sewing).

For firmer ears, place 2 panels together and crochet 1 sc all around.

Sew the ears at the top of the head over Round 25, spaced by 5 stitches.

A soft dress paired with a floppy summer hat—this look is all about sweet vintage vibes. It’s easy to crochet and gives your bunny a darling, timeless style.

  • The dress is worked in continuous rounds (as a spiral). Use a stitch marker if needed.

With a 2.75 mm crochet and the color of your choice OR with a 4.5 mm and yarn in the color of your choice

  • Round 1: ch 37: make 1 sl st in the first ch to close the circle.
  • Round 2: [1 sc in all ch] - miss the sl st. (36)
  • Round 3: [1 sc in the next 4 st, 1 dec]x6. (30)

The front pocket:

With a 2.75 mm crochet and the color of your choice OR with a 4.5 mm and yarn in the color of your choice

Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.

With your tapestry needle, sew the pocket to the front of the dress.

The summer hat:

With a 2.75 mm crochet and the color of your choice OR with a 4.5 mm and yarn in the color of your choice

  • Round 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring. (6)  - If you are working with plush yarn: ch 2; make 5 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook. (6)
