This No-Sew Crochet Bat is a super quick and beginner-friendly amigurumi pattern that works up in just a few minutes. Designed with simple stitches and no sewing required, this little bat is perfect for last-minute gifts, Halloween decorations, or adding a cute handmade touch to your amigurumi collection.

Crochet Pattern – No-sew Crochet Bat

Start Here

Please read the entire pattern before starting.

  • Pattern is written in US terms
  • Work in continuous rounds unless stated otherwise
  • Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round if needed
  • Stuff firmly as you crochet
  • This pattern is designed to be no-sew: all parts are crocheted directly onto the body

Parts:

  • 1 Body
  • 2 ears
  • 2 wings

Finished Size:

  • Approx. 1.25 inches (3 cm) using light worsted yarn
  • Approx. 2.5 inches (7 cm) using plush yarn

Material:

If using worsted yarn

  • Worsted yarn in black
  • Small amount of pink yarn (nose)
  • US C-2 / 2.75 mm crochet hook
  • 2 safety eyes (6 mm)
  • Small amount of white cotton thread (size 8) for eye details

If using plush yarn

  • Plush yarn in black
  • Small amount of pink yarn (nose)
  • US 7 / 4.5 mm crochet hook
  • 2 safety eyes (9 mm)
  • Optional: white yarn for eye details instead of thread

Additional supplies

  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch marker (optional)
  • Polyfill stuffing

How to crochet a No-sew Bat?


Body

  • Worked in continuous rounds. Use a stitch marker if needed.
  • Stuff as you go.

With black yarn:

    • Round 1: 6 sc in a mr. (6)
      Plush yarn: ch 2, make 6 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook. (6)
    • Round 2: [6 inc]. (12)
    • Round 3: [1 inc in the next st, 1 sc]x6. (18)
    • Rounds 4-9: [1 sc in all st]. (18)

Face Details

  • Insert safety eyes between Rounds 7 and 8, spaced by 2 stitches
  • With white thread or yarn, embroider small eye highlights on the sides of the eyes
  • With pink yarn, embroider a small nose between Rounds 6 and 7, over 1 stitch

Finish the Body

  • Round 10: [1 sc in all st]. (18)
  • Round 11: [1 dec, 1 sc]x6. (12)

Stuff the body firmly.

  • Round 12: [6 dec]. (6)

Fasten off, close the opening, and weave in ends.


Ears (make 2)

The ears are worked directly onto the body over Rounds 10 and 11.

Insert your hook under a stitch of Round 11 on the side of the head.

  • Row 1: ch 2. 
  • Row 2: starting in the 2nd ch from the hook: 6 sc. (6)

Pull the yarn tails inside the body, secure with a small knot, and hide the knot inside.

Repeat on the opposite side for the second ear.


Wings (make 2)

The wings are worked directly onto the body. 

Join the yarn by inserting your hook under a stitch between Rounds 7 and 8, about 3 stitches away from the eye.

  • On the left side: insert hook from eye toward the back
  • On the right side: insert hook from back toward the eye

(This ensures the wings face forward correctly.)

  • Row 1: ch 6.
  • Row 2: Starting in the 2nd ch from the hook:
    1 sc, 1 HDC, 1 HDC, 1 DC, 1 DC. (5)

Fasten off, pull the yarn tails inside the body, secure with a knot, and hide the knot.

Repeat on the opposite side for the second wing.
