I absolutely love crocheting baby booties — they’re tiny, sweet, and full of personality! 💕
This special Horse Baby Booties set was designed to celebrate the arrival of a precious little girl. Each bootie features a cute horse face with soft details and playful hair, making them a truly unique handmade gift.
This pattern is written for size 0–3 months (approximately 9 cm / 3.5 inches sole length).

Crochet Baby Horse Booties – Free Crochet Pattern

Finished Size
- Baby booties size: 0–3 months
- Sole length: 9–10 cm (3.5–4 inches)
Materials
- Worsted yarn in dark brown, light brown and white.
- 5 mm crochet hook (booties)
- 3 mm crochet hook (head, ears, details)
- 4 black safety eyes (6 mm) (optional – embroidery recommended for babies)
- PolyFil stuffing
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle
- Hair Straightener (optional – see safety note)
- 2 little bows (optional)

Horse Baby Booties – Free Crochet Pattern
Booties (make 2)
- Worked in continuous rounds. Do not join unless stated.
With light brown yarn and 5 mm hook:
- Ch. 12. (12)
- Round 1:
Starting in 2nd ch from hook:
10 sc, 4 sc in last ch; working on opposite side of chain: 10 sc. (24) - Round 2:
2 hdc in first 2 sts,
7 sc,
2 hdc in next 6 sts,
7 sc,
2 hdc in last 2 sts. (34) - sc 1. (This will allow you to start your next row in the middle).
👉 Place marker at beginning of next round
- Round 3:
2 hdc in first 2 sts,
12 hdc,
2 hdc in next 6 sts,
12 hdc,
2 hdc in last 2 sts. (44) - Round 4: working in the BLO: sc in all sts. (44)
- sc 1. This will allow you to start your next row in the middle.
✔️ Sole should measure 9–10 cm

Horse Head (Make 2) :

With light brown yarn and 3 mm hook:
- Round 1: 5 sc in a magic ring. (5)
- Round 2: inc 5 times. (10)
- Round 3: [1 sc in next st, 1 inc in next st] x6. (15)
- Rounds 4 to 5: 1 sc in all st. (15)
- Round 6: [4 sc, 1 inc, 1 sc, 3 inc, 1 sc, 1 inc, 4 sc]. (20)
- Rounds 7 to 8: 1 sc in all. (20)
- Round 9: [3 sc, 1 inc] x5. (25)
- Rounds 10 to 11: 1 sc in all. (25)
👉 Insert eyes between Rounds 7–8, spaced by 3 stitches
- Round 12: [3 sc, 1 dec] x5. (20)
- Round 13: [2 sc, 1 dec] x5. (15)
Stuff firmly.
- Round 14: [1 sc, 1 dec] x5. (10)
- Round 15: [5 dec]. (5)
Fasten off and close the opening.
Ears (make 4)
- Worked in rounds.
With light brown yarn and 3 mm hook:
- Round 1: 4 sc in a magic ring. (4)
- Round 2: 1 sc in all st. (4)
- Round 3: [1 inc, 1 sc] x2. (6)
- Round 4: [1 inc, 1 sc] x3. (9)
- Round 5: [1 dec, 1 sc] x3. (6)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail.
👉 Attach ears around Round 11 of the head.
They may look large at first — the hair will balance them visually.
Hair and Tail Mane
⚠️ Decorative only. Not recommended for sleep or unsupervised wear.
- Cut multiple strands of dark brown yarn, each approx. 8 inches (20 cm) long
- Using a tapestry needle, attach strands evenly to the top of the head: Using your hook, insert the folded yarn at the top of the head, pulling it through by the folded loop. Pass the loose ends through the loop and tighten gently to secure.
- Repeat for the tail mane, centered at the back of each bootie
Styling Options
- Leave natural and trim evenly
- Separate strands for a wavy look
- Optional: straighten acrylic yarn using a hair straightener on lowest heat
- Always test on scrap yarn first
Finish by trimming hair to the desired length. Add bows if desired 🎀

Can you give pattern for size 2-3 childrens sizes. My granddaughter loved loved these.
