The hair :
It is now time to make the hair. I am not going to lie, it is a long work but I love it! It offers so many different possibilities. You can play with different hairstyles, different lengths,…
First, you have to cut a lot of yarn strings (from your dark brown acrylic yarn) about 8 inches long. Then you can start to attach the hair to the head with your tapestry needle as shown in the pictures below. Do the same for the tail at the centre back of the booties.
You then have different options, you can leave it like this and cut it to have the same length everywhere.
Funny what a haircut can do, doesn’t it?
With your tapestry needle, you can also separate from each other each strings composing the yarn. You will then have some beautiful wavy hair!
I wanted straight hair, so I simply use my hair straightener on the lower temperature. Please test on a string of yarn before doing it! I am not responsible for any straightener damage…Test very carefully and do not stay too long on the same string!
Once it is done, cut the hair to have the same length everywhere. You can also add accessories in the hair. I decided to add a small red bow.
Booties (make 2) :
With the light brown yarn and the 5 mm hook.
Ch. 12. (12)
Row 1: Turn, Working in the 2nd chain from the hook: 10 sc, 4 sc in the last st. Working on the other side of the chain: 10 sc. (24)
Row 2: do not join. 2 HDC in the first 2 st, 7 sc, 2 HDC in the next 6 st, 7 sc, 2 HDC in the last 2 st. (34)

Row 3: do not join. 2 HDC in the first 2 st, 12 HDC, 2 HDC in the next 6 st, 12 HDC, 2 HDC in the last 2 st. (44)
Row 4: do not join. Working in the back loop only. 1 sc in all st. (44)

Measure the sole of the bootie. It should be around 9-10 cm for a newborn size. Adjust the size of your crochet if it is not the case.
