Crochet Christmas Ornament Ball Garland

Find here a great pattern to crochet a Christmas Ornament Ball Garland

Hi everyone! After the Christmas garland with bulbs, I decided to make one with ball ornaments. My son loved to play with the first one so I decided to make him one more. I also made a garland with rounds ornaments and a star pillow for the top.

I hope you will enjoy and understand the pattern. If you have any questions, feel free to write to me. Pattern: How to crochet a Crochet Christmas Ornament Ball Garland?

The ball ornaments

With the color of your choice and the 4 mm hook

Back of the ball

  • Round 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring. (6)
  • Round 2: [2 sc in all st]. (12)
  • Round 3: [1 sc in the next st, 1 inc in the next st] x6. (18)
  • Round 4: [1 inc in the next st, 1 sc in the 2 next st] x6. (24)

Cut the yarn and fasten off

Front of the light

  • Round 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring. (6)
  • Round 2: [2 sc in all st]. (12)
  • Round 3: [1 sc in the next st, 1 inc in the next st] x6. (18)
  • Round 4: [1 inc in the next st, 1 sc in the 2 next st] x6. (24)

Do not cut the yarn. Place the back of the light under the front.  You will now be working in the front and the back of the light (both loops).

  • Round 5: [1 sc in the 3 next st, 1 inc in the next st] x6. (30)

NB: If you want to fill the ornament with poly-fil: stop after you have made 20 st of round 5, add some poly-fil and keep working as said previously

  • Row 6: Join with the grey light and make 1 sc in the next 2 st (the 2 st at the top of the light).
  • Row 7: ch1, turn: [1 inc in the next 2 st]. (4)
  • Rows 8 to 9 : turn, ch1;  [1 sc in all st]. (4)

Cut the yarn, fasten off. BUT leave a long tail as you will use it to sew the light to the garland!

You can now make more lights!

The string

With the green yarn and the 4 mm hook

I decided to separate each light by 30 st. Depending of your project, you can choose to place them closer or farther away.

For spacing by 30 st, follow this pattern:

  • If you have 3 lights, make a chain of: (3x 30) + 30 ch
  • ch 30 – light 1 – ch 30 – light 2 – ch 30 – light 3 – ch 30
  • If you have 5 lights, make a chain of: (5x 30) + 30 ch
  • ch 30 – light 1 – ch 30 – light 2 – ch 30 – light 3 – ch 30 – light 4 – ch 30 – light 5 – ch 30
  • If you have n lights, make a chain of: (nx 30) + 30 ch
  • ch 30 – light 1 – ch 30 – light 2 – ch 30 -…- light n – ch 30

Once your green chain is done, you can sew the lights. I attached each light to 2 ch (the last of the 1st ch 30 and the first the next “ch 30”).
