How to make a crochet lion?
Let’s start!
Legs (make 4) :
Work in rounds, do not turn unless specified. If needed, use a stitch marker for the first stitch of each round.
With the light brown yarn and the 3.5 mm hook
Round 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring. (6)
Round 2: [1 inc in all st]. (12)
Round 3: [1 sc in next st, 1 inc]. (18)
Round 4: [1 sc in next 3 st, 6 dec, 1 sc in next 3 st]. (12)
Round 5: [1 sc in next 2 st, 4 dec, 1 sc in next 2 st]. (8)
Rounds 6 to 12: 1 sc in all st. (8)
sl st in the next st.
Add a little bit of stuffing.
Leave a long tail for sewing and cut.
Muzzle:
Let’s work on the crochet lion head pattern.
Work in rounds, do not turn unless specified. If needed, use a stitch marker for the first stitch of each round.
With the light brown yarn and the 3.5 mm hook
Round 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring. (6)

Round 3: [1 sc in next 3 st, 6 inc, 1 sc in next 3 st]. (18)
Round 4: 1 sc in all st. (18)
sl st in the next st.
I would suggest making the black nose now. With the tapestry needle and the black yarn, make a nose (I made mine later but it would be easier to do it now).
Add a little bit of stuffing.
Leave a long tail for sewing and cut.
Ears (makes 2) :
Work in rounds, do not turn unless specified. If needed, use a stitch marker for the first stitch of each round.

Round 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring. (6).
Round 2: turn ; [1sc in the next st, 1 inc] x3. (9)
Leave a long tail for sewing and cut.

Attach the muzzle below the eyes.
Attach the ears to each side of the head.
Attach the legs to the body – see pictures below
Tail:
With the light brown yarn and the 3.5 mm hook.
ch 20.
Leave a long tail for sewing and cut.
Attach the tail to the body.
The white belly:
Take your white (fluffy) yarn and cut several lengths of yarn of about 6 inches (15 cm). Please look at the pictures below to help you with the next steps. Insert your 3 mm crochet hook under a stitch of the belly and grab the middle of 1 stand, bringing it through the body. Now with your hands, wrap both ends of the strand and pull them through the loop. Repeat the same work all over the belly. Cut the yarn to a length of your choice. Do the exact same work under the muzzle.
Mane:
Take your brown yarn and cut lengths of yarn of about 6 inches (20 cm). I used yarn bee – Tender touch from Hobby Lobby but any brown acrylic yarn will work.
Exactly as you did for the belly, make the mane all over the head. I didn’t want mine to be too heavy so I left a patch with no mane under the skin (it is not visible when the mane is in the right position).
Give your lion a haircut!
Add some brown yarn at the end of the tail (just like you did for the mane)
The hat:
Work in rounds, do not turn unless specified. If needed, use a stitch marker for the first stitch of each round.
With the color 1 and the 3 mm hook.
Round 1: start 4 sc in a magic ring. (4)
Round 2: [1 inc, 1 sc in the next st] x2. (6)
Round 3: [1 inc, 1 sc in the next st] x3. (9)
Round 4: [1 inc, 1 sc in the next 2 st] x2. (12)
Round 5: [1 sc in all st]. (12)
Round 6: [1 inc, 1 sc in the next st] x6. (18)
Rounds 7 to 8: [1 sc in all st]. (18)
Change for the color 2.
Round 9: [1 inc, 1 sc in the next 2 st] x6. (24)
Rounds 10 to 11: [1 sc in all st]. (24)
Add a little piece of yarn at the top of hat.
Change for the fluffy white yarn.
Round 12: [1 sc in all st]. (24)
sl st, cut and sew in the ends.
You can add an elastic string on the hat in order to make it look more real.
Footstool:
Work in rounds, do not turn unless specified. If needed, use a stitch marker for the first stitch of each round.
We start at the top of the footstool and finish by the bottom.
With the colour 1 and the 3.5 mm hook.
Round 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring. (6)
Round 2: inc 6 times. (12)
Round 3: [1 sc in next st, 1 inc in next st] x6. (18)
Round 4: [1 sc in next 2 st, 1 inc in next st] x6. (24)
Round 5: [1 sc in next 3 st, 1 inc in next st] x6. (30)
Round 6: [1 sc in next 4 st, 1 inc in next st] x6. (36)
Round 7: working in the back loop only: 1 sc in all st. (36)
With the color 2 and the 3.5 mm hook.
Rounds 8 to 11: 1 sc in all st. (36)
Round 12: [1 sc in next 4 st, 1 dec] x6. (30)
Round 13: [1 sc in next 3 st, 1 dec] x6. (24)
Round 14: [1 sc in next 2 st, 1 dec] x6. (18)
Round 15: [1 sc in next st, 1 dec] x6. (12)
Fill the footstool with poly-fil.
Round 16: 6 dec. (6)
Cut the yarn and sew in the ends. NB: If you use the seal to make a baby mobile (explanations coming soon), do not cut the yarn, use it to attach the lion on it (see picture below).
Add 3 stars buttons between colour 1 and colour 2.
Congratulation, your amigurumi lion is done!
I hope you enjoyed this pattern!
