Find here an easy crochet pattern to make a small Santa Claus Amigurumi
Hi everyone! You will find on this page a crochet Santa Claus amigurumi pattern. You have asked if I could make more Christmas amigurumi and I have decided to make a Christmas mini-collection. It works really fast and it is perfect for a last-minute crochet project! This crochet doll collection is adorable and we will want to make them all. Lucky for you, they are easy and small crochet patterns! You will be able to make them all really quickly!
The body is made in one part, so if you don’t like sewing many parts, it is the perfect crochet project for you.

Santa Claus Amigurumi Pattern
Material:
- Yarn calling for 5,5 mm hook in peach, black, red, white, and yellow.
- A very small amount of pearl cotton in white (for the mouth, the eyebrows, and the scar).
- Size 3.5 mm crochet hook.
- 2 black safety eyes (7.5 mm)
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle
Abbreviations:
- chain (ch)
- magic ring (mr)
- single crochet (sc)
- increase (inc)
- invisible decrease (dec)
- slip stitch (sl st)
- half double crochet (hdc)
- double crochet (dc)
Pattern: How to crochet a Santa Claus Amigurumi?
We start with the head and finish with the bottom of the body.
The head and the body – Santa Claus Amigurumi Pattern
With a 3.5 mm crochet and the peach yarn.
- Round 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring. (6)
- Round 2: [1 inc in all st]. (12)
- Round 3: [1 sc, 1 inc] x6. (18)
- Round 4: [2 sc, 1 inc] x6. (24)
- Rounds 5-9: [1 sc in all st]. (24)
- Round 10: [2 sc, 1 dec] x6. (18)
- Round 11: [1 sc, 1 dec] x6. (12)
Place the eyes between rounds 6 and 7, spaced by 3 stitches.
With the tapestry needle and the white pearl cotton, make the eyebrows over the eyes, and the scar on the forehead.
Facultative: with a little piece of peach yarn, make a nose.
Join a new color, red. We are now doing the body.
- Round 12: working in the back loop only (blo): [1 sc in all st]. (12)
- Round 13: [1 sc, 1 inc] x6. (18)
- Rounds 14-16: [1 sc in all st]. (18)
Fill the head.
Fill the body as you go.
Join a new color, black. We are now doing the belt.
- Rounds 17-18: [1 sc in all st]. (18)
Join a new color, red. We are now doing the lower body.
- Round 19: working in the back loop only (blo): [1 sc in all st]. (18)
- Rounds 20-22: [1 sc in all st]. (18)
Join a new color, white.
- Round 23: [1 sc in all st]. (18)
Join a new color, black. We are now doing the feet.
- Round 24: working in the back loop only (blo): [1 sc in all st]. (18)
Fill the body before the close it.
- Round 25: working in the back loop only (blo): [1 sc, 1 dec] x6. (12)
- Round 26: [6 dec]. (6)
Close the body and fasten off.
We are now adding a row in the front loop of round 24. This will allow your doll to stand up. You can skip this step if you don’t want it to stand up.
Join the black yarn in any front loop of Round 24 (I would suggest joining in a loop in the back so it won’t be too visible).
- Round 27: working in the front loop only (flo): [2 sc, 1 inc] x6. (24)
Finish with a slip stitch in the first st of round 27 and fasten off.
With the tapestry needle and the yellow yarn, make a ring around the belt.

We are starting by the gloves first.
With a 3.5 mm crochet and black yarn.
- Round 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring. (6)
- Round 2: [1 inc, 2 sc] x2. (8)
Change for the white yarn.
- Round 3: [1 sc in all st]. (8)
Change for the red yarn.
- Round 4: working in the back loop only (blo): [1 sc in all st]. (8)

Close the arm, and leave a long tail for sewing.
The hair – Santa Claus Amigurumi Pattern
I have done another Santa Claus pattern and there is 2 option for the hair: short hair (right on the picture) or long hair (left on the picture).
Option 1: Short hair
We are starting the hair with a magic circle that will be at the center of the head.
With a 3.5 mm crochet and white yarn.
- Round 1: start 8 sc in a magic ring. (8)
- Round 2: [1 inc in all st]. (16)
- Round 3: We are now doing the strands of hair. We will have a total of 10 strands (1 starting in each st from round 2):
- – Strand 1 (which will be at the middle back of the head): (1 sc, ch 6). Now starting in the 2nd ch from the hook: 1 sc in all the 5 st.
- – Strands 2-5: (1 sc (in the next st from Round 2), ch 6). Now starting in the 2nd ch from the hook: 1 sc in all the 5 st.
- 1 sc in the next 6 st from round 2 (which will be the part without strands at the front of the head)
- – Strands 6-10: (1 sc (in the next st from Round 2), ch 6). Now starting in the 2nd ch from the hook: 1 sc in all the 5 st.
Cut the yarn but leave a long tail for sewing the hair to the head. With pin needles, place the hair on the head and sew it.
Option 2: Long hair
We are starting the hair with a magic circle that will be at the center of the head.
With a 3.5 mm crochet and white yarn.
- Round 1: start 8 sc in a magic ring. (8)
- Round 2: [1 inc in all st]. (16)
- Round 3: We are now doing the strands of hair. We will have a total of 10 strands (1 starting in each st from round 2):

The beard – Santa Claus Amigurumi Pattern
I have done another Santa Claus pattern and there is 2 option for the beard: a short beard (left on the picture) or a large beard with mustaches (right on the picture).
Option 1: Short beard
With a 3.5 mm crochet and white yarn.
- Row 1: ch 3. (3)
- Row 2: starting in the 2nd ch from the hook: 1 sc in all st. (2)
- Row 3: ch1, turn; [2 inc]. (4)
- Row 4: ch1, turn; [1 inc, 2 sc, 1 inc]. (6)
- Row 5: ch1, turn; [1 sc in all st]. (6)
- Row 6: ch1, turn; [1 sc, miss the next 4 st, ch 6, 1 sc in the last st]. (8)
Cut the yarn but leave a long tail for sewing. Fasten off
Option 2: Large beard and mustaches
– The beard:
With a 3.5 mm crochet and white yarn.
- Row 1: ch 13. (13)
- Row 2: starting in the 2nd ch from the hook: 1 sc in all st. (12)
- Row 3: ch1, turn; [1 sc, (2 dc in the next st), 1sc] x4. (16)
Cut the yarn but leave a long tail for sewing. Fasten off
– The mustaches:
With a 3.5 mm crochet and white yarn.
- Row 1: ch 8. (8)
- Row 2: starting in the 2nd ch from the hook: [1 sl st, 1 sl st, 1 sc, 1 sl st, 1 sc, 1 sl st, 1 sl st]. (7)
Cut the yarn but leave a long tail for sewing. Fasten off
The hat – Santa Claus Amigurumi Pattern
With a 3.5 mm crochet and red yarn.
- Round 1: start 4 sc in a magic ring. (4)
- Round 2: [1 sc, 1 inc] x2. (6)
- Round 3: [1 sc in all st]. (6)
- Round 4: [1 sc, 1 inc] x3. (9)
- Round 5: [1 sc in all st]. (9)
- Round 6: [2 sc, 1 inc] x3. (12)
- Round 7: [1 sc in all st]. (12)
- Round 8: [3 sc, 1 inc] x3. (15)
- Round 9: [1 sc in all st]. (15)
- Round 10: [4 sc, 1 inc] x3. (18)
- Round 11: [1 sc in all st]. (18)

Cut the yarn and fasten off.
If you have a pompom maker, make a little white pompom and sew it to the top of the hat.
If you prefer, you can use a white pompom and glue it at the top of the hat.
Fold the hat and make a little stitch with your tapestry needle and the red yarn to make sure it stays like that.
