My son has a new obsession with ice cream and ice cream trucks. So I decided to make him a crochet ice cream crochet game! Select your crochet cone, choose your flavor (s), add a topping, and your crochet ice cream is ready! It is a nice game to develop motor skills and learn colors. The number of combinations is unlimited. It is also a perfect crochet pattern if you have some leftovers of yarn and you do not know what to do with it!

MATERIALS:

• Different colors of yarns calling for 5,5 mm hook
• Size 3.5 mm crochet hook
• Ceramic magnets (To make 1 cone/cup, you will need 1 magnet of 0.75 in / 1.9 cm. To make 1 flavor (round shape), you will need 1 magnet of 0.75 in / 1.9 cm and 1 magnet of 0.5 in /1.2 cm. To make 1 flavor (pointed shape), you will need 1 magnet of 0.75 in / 1.9 cm. To make 1 cherry, you will need 1 magnet of 0.75 in / 1.9 cm).

 

• Poly-Fil Fiberfill stuffing
• Stitch markers
• Tapestry needle

Let’s start!

 

Crochet Cones – Ice cream Crochet Pattern

 

I will show you how to make a crochet cone.

 

Traditional long crochet cone (pointed cone) – Ice cream Crochet Pattern

 

 

With the cream yarn and the 3.5 mm hook

 

Work in rounds, do not turn unless specified. If needed, use a stitch marker for the first stitch of each round.

First, we will make the top part of the cone with the magnet:

Round 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring. (6)

Round 2: inc 6 times. (12)

Round 3: [sc in next st, 1 inc in next st] x6. (18)

Round 4: [sc in next 2 st, 1 inc in next st] x6. (24)

Cut the yarn and sew in the end. Save it for later.

 

We will make another one but this time, we will not cut the yarn.

Round 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring. (6)

Small crochet cone/cup (flat cone) – Ice cream Crochet Pattern

Let’s now work on the top of the flavor. I also add a magnet at the top to be able to add more flavors to it and make a bigger ice-cream.

You want to make sure that the top of your flavor will stick to the base of another flavor. Use the base that you just made to check it is in the right way. Double check before to continue.

Pointed shape flavors/topping – Ice cream Crochet Pattern

 

 

They can be used either as flavors or as topping on a round-shape flavor.

 

With the color of your choice and the 3.5 mm hook

 

Work in rounds, do not turn unless specified. If needed, use a stitch marker for the first stitch of each round.

If you want to add some sparkles, I would suggest you to do it now. Take the tapestry needle, the yarn(s) of your choice and make some little spot at different places.

 

 

Stuff the flavor (do not put too much filling as you want to be able to push the base slightly in the inside).

Round 17: Insert your hook in the next st AND in 1 st of your other circle (it does not matter which st. Make sure it is in the right way). Make 1 sc through both st (see pictures below). For the entire round, we will keep working on the stitches of both circles as we just did. 1 sc in all the remaining st. (30)

Round 18: 1 sc in all st. (30)

Cut the yarn and sew in the end.

 

 

Make as many flavors as you want! Be original, mix different colors, add some sparkling!

Cherry – Ice cream Crochet Pattern

 

 

With the red yarn and the 3.5 mm hook

 

Work in rounds, do not turn unless specified. If needed, use a stitch marker for the first stitch of each round.

 

Round 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring. (6)

Round 2: inc 6 times. (12)

Round 3: [sc in next st, 1 inc in next st] x6. (18)

Rounds 4 to 7: 1 sc in all st. (18)

Insert 1 magnet (0.75 in /1.9 cm) at the bottom of your cherry. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS STEP! DO NOT INSERT THE MAGNET IN THE WRONG WAY. You want to make sure that the cherry will stick at the top of your flavor. Double check before to continue.

Round 8: [sc in next st, 1 dec in next st] x6. (12)

Round 9: [dec in all] x6. (6)

Close and cut the yarn.

 

With the green yarn and the 3.5 mm hook:

Ch 6. Turn. In the 2nd ch from the hook, make 1 sc. make 1 sc in the next 4 st.

Attach to the cherry with the tapestry needle.
